Are you a ASUS laptop user and experiencing with touch pad problem? You are so frustrated because you cannot use touch pad and keyboard simultaneously? Every time you switch from touch pad to keyboard its cursor disappears and the touch pad will be disabled automatically? If you have a mouse, it won't be a problem to you, but if you don't have any, likely it will be so annoying. Here is a solution for you to overcome that problem.

Error on Touch Pad ASUS Laptop: Cursor Disappears when using Keyboard

Usually people will suggest you to press hot key FN + F9 to enable the touch pad again. While pressing those keys, just look at the picture indicator whether it shows touch pad disabled or enable. (see picture below!)

I have to press those hotkeys twice to enable my touch pad and cursor which always disabled automatically every time I use the keyboard to type or to give command like CTRL + C to copy something. This is only a temporary solution and quite frustrating, so I look for another solution.

TouchPad ASUS Laptop Disabled when Typing on Its Keyboard

So why the cursor always disappears and the touchpad disabled when I do smething with keyboard? The answer lays on the configuration of its mouse itsself. Follow the steps below to fix this problem:
  1. Open Control Panel
  2. On Search Box upright corner, just type mouse, and hit enter, it will bring the search result as follows:
Change Mouse Settings pada Control Panel
Change Mouse Settings on Control Panel
  3. Click Change mouse settings (arrow point above), window Mouse Properties will pop up.
  4. Choose/click on Tab Finger Sensing Pad, then click Configure button.
    Configure button on Mouse Properties
    Configure button on Mouse Properties
  5. On window Finger Sensing Pad Configurator, select items ASUS SmartSense under Tray Icon category, then on the right side uncheck Enable ASUS SmartSense.

    Uncheck on Enable ASUS SmartSense
  6. Click Apply and OK button.
ASUS SmartSense is the real cause of this problem. ASUS SmartSense a featured provided for users whose hands may unintentionally touch the pad while typing at keyboard. With ASUS SmartSense enabled, the pad is disabled while user is typing at the keyboard. The pad keeps disabled until finger moves on the activation region which is a circle you can configure by specifying the center and the size. (Try to adjust manually the circle on the right side of the ASUS SmartSense category).
Now you can switch from touch pad to keyboard without having disabled the pad anymore, and you can work peacefully. :D
